From the shoreline to the peaks of the mountains the gods gave plants that could be used to repair "mana" (spirit) drained bodies.

"Ulu" (breadfruit): The white milky sap was a treatment for several skin diseases.

"Mikana" (papaya): The leaves were use as soap and the milky sap of a green papaya was used to remove blemishes when rubbed on the skin.

"Kukui" (nuts): They used to remove the stem of the nut and rubbed the sap that oozes out of the "well" left by the stem, on their lips.

"Maui's onion": Mix the onion juice with vinegar and apply to the skin. It is good for removing  freckles and age spots.

Eucalyptus: The aroma has a soothing effect on colds and relaxes the body. Good to boil in water to treat aches and pains. Also used for tanning oil.

"Awapuhi" (ginger): Mix ashes of awapuhi with ashes of the small leaf bamboo and juices from 4 green kukui nuts and apply to the sore spot. Good for cuts and skin sores.

Aloe: Combine juice of aloe with some wine and rub the mixture into your scalp to prevent hair loss.

Lemon: Rub lemon peels on yourself for mosquito repellent.
